Today we practiced writing our alphabet and talked about the fractions
half and one-fourth. We also practiced for the program at the high
school and visited the gym. Children can report to their room (A6) at
the high school between 6:30 and 6:45 this evening. If you do not know
where that room is, student helpers will be around the school wearing
Santa hats and they can direct you to the classroom. You will also pick
the children up from this room when the concert is over. Tomorrow, we
will have a morning of hard work and an afternoon of fun. This will be
my last blog for 2009. Have a wonderful break and I will talk with you
again in 2010!

Today we wrote in our journals. The kids are doing a wonderful job of
sounding out words. At this point, most children are able to at least
two sounds per word. We also discussed symmetry by drawing a line down
the middle of an object and seeing if both sides matched. This
afternoon, we read a story called the Merry Un-Christmas and visited the
gym and music room. Tomorrow, we will be taking a bus to the high school
for music practice. The program is coming together nicely and I am sure
you will be entertained on Thursday night!

It's Beginning to Look a lot Like Winter!

Today we worked on sounding out words and journaling. We also practiced
identifying 3-dimensional shapes and created some Gingerbread Man art.
The kids visited the music room and gym. Stay safe in the blizzard (if
that is what happens)!

Today we worked on sounding out words. We also began discussing two and
three dimensional shapes. Two-dimensional are 'flat' and
three-dimensional are not. Among others, we focused on sphere, cube,
cone, and cylinder. We also decorated our tree and visited the gym and
library. Have a great day!

Have a Great Weekend!

Today we practiced our three new words (do, has, who) and finished our
math chapter about numbers to 10. We will start a geometry chapter next
week and we will talk about three dimensional shapes. We also visited
the gym and music rooms today. We wrote Santa letters with our reader
pals and we really hope Santa will write back soon. Have a great
weekend!

Let it Snow!

Today we practiced identifying the five vowels. The children wrote down
five words and then circled the vowels within each word. This is in
preparation for learning long and short vowel sounds in January. In
math, we created graphs about our favorite season. Winter was the
winner! We also visited the gym, music room, and computer lab. Have a
great day and enjoy the fresh snow!

A Busy Day

Today we practiced rhyming and writing our numbers to ten. Today the
focus was on neatness and being sure our numbers weren't backwards. We
also completed some reading assessments (they will be in your child's
folder today) and visited both the music room and gym. In computer lab,
we played Successmaker. Have a great day!
