Happy Halloween...sort of

The kids came in this morning excited, but focused on their jobs! We are
currently working with our reader pals on our new take home book (our
new words are he and she). We will be decorating some paper bags for our
party this afternoon as well. We will visit the gym, library, and
computer lab soon. We will then complete our math for the day and head
out for recess and lunch. This afternoon, we will be playing some games,
creating some Halloween crafts, and eating fruit kabobs. The Goblin
Parade starts at 2:00 and I hope to see everyone there. Fundraiser items
will be available for pickup after the parade. Have a great Halloween
weekend!

Such a great group of kids!

The kids worked quickly this morning to finish some workbook pages
practicing letters and how to write them. After gym and music, we
journaled using uppercase letters in the beginning of names and an
uppercase letter at the beginning of the sentence. This afternoon, we
will be playing Halloween bingo with numbers and practicing the concepts
of more, less, equal. We finished math testing for this quarter and will
start the reading testing next week. Have a great day!

Let it Snow!

The children have done a fabulous job of holding it together in spite of
the of white conditions! We practiced letter writing this morning as
well as visited the gym, music room, and computer lab. This afternoon,
we will be creating a pumpkin book and practicing our numbers. We are
also learning about the concept 'equal' in regards to numbers. Drive
safe!

I forgot to mention...

Oops! I forgot to mention that I will be gone tomorrow taking care of a
sick child. The children know they will have a sub and I am sure they
will do a great job!

Monday Monday Monday

What a great group of kids! They came in this morning ready to go and
were able to get a lot done before recess. We practiced letter Qq,
visited the gym and music room, and wrote a sentence in our journals (Do
you see a bat?) in which the kids were able to use a question mark for
the first time. This afternoon, we will be making tear paper pumpkins
(they will be sent home to decorate for Halloween) and starting a new
math unit on numbers/counting. I will start testing today for the end of
first quarter. I can't believe the end of the quarter is nearly here!
Have a great day:)

Wednesday Already?!

We had a good time using shaving cream this morning to make our letters
and strengthen our fingers. The room also smells great and the tables
are germ free! The kids are at gym and music now. When they return, we
will be going to the computer lab for Successmaker. We have centers as
well before heading to recess and lunch. This afternoon, we will be
playing a shape jack-o-lantern game and practicing our numbers. Have a
great rest of the week!

Good Job Kids!

The children had a sub for the 1st half of the day today while I was at
a workshop in the building. They did a great job listening and learning
for her and I was very proud of their ability to adapt to new
situations. This afternoon, we will be creating a story board using
pumpkin pictures and completing centers. I can't believe we are half way
done with the school week. Time flies!

A Short Week

Today, we worked on journaling for the first time. The kids copied a
short sentence (I see a frog) from the whiteboard into their journals.
We will do a sentence each day for about a week. After the students have
learned to sound out words, they will begin writing their own sentences.
We also practiced our number writing and made pumpkin people today. Have
a great day!

Half Day Friday

The kids did a great job coming in and getting to work this morning,
even though the half day is a fun and exciting concept! We read our next
take-home book entitled "We See" and practiced the new quick words 'we'
and 'and'. The kids are at gym and library now. When they return, we
will be taking a math test about patterning and then having our short
playtime. The kids will be dismissed at 12:25 today. Have a wonderful
weekend!

Firehall

The kids did a great job walking to and from the firehall today. We were
able to visit with the firefighters and explore the trucks. We received
some hats and flashlights for coming and the kids look great! This
afternoon, we will be finishing our math unit on patterning. We will
also have story time and rest. Please remember that tomorrow is a half
day!

Brrrrr!

We practiced our alphabet this morning and I was very impressed with
every child. They are not only recognizing their letters, but writing
them and making their sounds. The children are currently attending gym
and music. We will be visiting the computer lab this morning and
completing centers. This afternoon, we will be discussing fire safety
and practicing some difficult patterns (ABB, AABB, etc). Have a great
day!

We practiced writing letters Ll-Nn today. The kids did a nice job of
starting at the top line for tall letters and the middle line for small
letters. We do not want to start letters at the bottom line. We visited
the music room and went outside for gym today. We also completed centers
and tried some new choice games that practice rhyming, letters,
patterns, and shapes. This afternoon, we will be making a Fall book,
discussing fire safety, and having our playtime. Have a great day!

What a beautiful weekend!

We are working hard today to get back into our routine. Grandparent's
Day was a blast, but now we need to get back to work:) Today, the
children practiced the letter Mm before heading to music and gym. We
will be reading a story from our big book called Shadows when they
return and completing some new centers. This afternoon, the kids will be
starting a unit on fire safety. We will be making our fire fighter hats
and practicing some patterning as well. We are looking forward to our
trip to the firehall this week. Have a great day!

Hard Working Kids!

The kiddos worked very hard today on letter, sounds, and letter writing.
They performed their grandparent's day songs for the teachers and looked
very adorable doing it! This afternoon, we will be creating one last
grandparent day project and continue patterning in math. Have a great
day!

Back to it!

I was home with sick children yesterday, so I apologize for not
posting:) The children worked well with the substitute and finished
their work. I was very happy to hear that they had a good day without
me. Today, the children practiced letter Jj before leaving for music and
gym. They are working very hard on their grandparent music right now.
Next, we will be practicing our rhyming skills and completing centers.
This afternoon, the children will make a gift for grandparents day and
practice patterning in math. Have a great day!

Happy Friday:)

What a morning! The kids did a great job reading their second take-home
book, "Lunch". We practiced the words a, an, is, here. The kids now have
five quick words to practice (including the word 'the'). The children
are attending gym and library this morning, as well as finishing our
first math unit and creating Chicka Chicka Boom Boom trees based upon
the book of the same name. This afternoon, we will be visiting the
computer lab, making leaf rubbings with our reader pals, and having
playtime. Have a great weekend!
