Sorry I forgot to blog yesterday! My husband reminded me on the way home. Today, we had library checkout, practiced letter 'Jj', and started our new math books. We will be patterning this week. Tomorrow, we will have vision and hearing testing. Have a good day!
Today, we met with reader pals and painted leaves. We also made Fall trees and practiced our letters and words. Next week, we will continue with our words (a, an, is, here, the) as well as letters Aa-Hh. Have a great weekend!
Today, we worked on letter 'Hh' and four new words: a, an, is, here. We also started our new book "Lunch" which is in your child's folder. Pictures went very well and they all smiled wonderfully. Tomorrow, we will meet with Reader Pals.
I cannot believe it is already Wednesday! Today, we visited the computer lab and practiced letter 'Gg'. We also colored some color trains. This afternoon, we practiced a lock-down drill. I do not make a dramatic deal out of these drills because I do not want to scare the children. They just know that we need to practice staying in our rooms and that we need to be very quiet when Mr. Cawcutt checks on us. Tomorrow, we will continue with our Fall unit and letter 'Hh'.
Today, the kids worked hard on letter Ff. We also continued practicing the word 'the'. We had library checkout today. If your child wants, they can return their library books to our classroom as early as tomorrow. They can also choose to keep it until next Tuesday. Tomorrow, we will go to the computer lab and practice letter 'Gg'. Have a good evening!
Today, we practiced the word 'the' and letter 'Ee'. We also started discussing Fall and leaves. Today was computer lab and we played our math Successmaker game. Tomorrow is library day, so please send in those books!
The kids were excellent listeners today! We were able to cut our apples and make applesauce. The kids were wonderful about following directions and staying safe. We also finished discussing apples and finished our apple journal (should be in their folders). Next week, we will continue practicing 'the' and letters 'Aa' thru 'Hh'. Have a great weekend!
Today, we worked on shapes. We also practiced nouns (the kids don't call them nouns, but we practiced person, place, animal and object). The kids have learned letters Aa thru Dd now as well as the word 'the'. Please practice those letters and our word at home. Tomorrow, we have reader pals and I will send home a homework page.
Today, the kids worked hard to make letter 'Bb'. We also practiced our names and position words (up, down, over, under, etc). We also visited the computer lab and the kids had the chance to play for awhile. Have a good evening!
The kids worked hard today on letter Aa, shapes, and rhymes. We also went to library. Please return their library book anytime before next Tuesday. The kids also had a substitute for just a little while today so I could test their letter and sound skills. I will let you know of these results soon. Talk to you again tomorrow!
We had a good start to the week. We started practicing letter 'Aa' today in reading. In math, we practiced colors and shapes. In unit, we discussed apples and even tasted three different color apples. See if your kiddo can tell you what colors. We also had a chance to go to the computer lab and practice entering our passwords. Tomorrow, we will learn more about the upcoming PTA fundraiser and go to the library to checkout books.
The week is already over and the kids are excited for a little R and R this weekend! Today, we met our reader pals and the kids had a great time. We also worked on our shapes and our names. I sent home a homework page for the weekend; your child's lunch and computer number. Please help them for just a few minutes this weekend. We will also practice it at school. We will be starting an apple unit next week. Have a great weekend!
I can't believe it is already Thursday! The kids did a much better job today of raising hands and waiting for a turn to talk. This is a slow process in kindergarten so I was very impressed with their progress this week. We worked on shapes and colors today. We also drew a picture about why we are good friends. Tomorrow, we will meet our reader pals for the first time. These are 6th grade students who come to the room and read with us on Fridays. I am sure the kids will love this!
We had a good day full of great listening! I was very proud to see the kids settling into the routine. Today, we worked on shapes and colors. We also practiced names. We will continue with this tomorrow. We also played Successmaker on the smarboard. This is the math game the children will be playing in the computer lab next week. Have a good evening!
What a great day! The kids are really getting into the routine already. We worked on centers today for the first time (the kids have a designated spot to go and work in the room). We also started letter time (practice up/down and across lines), and math (in front/behind, next to). Tomorrow, we will have library for the first time. We will also continue with centers. Have a great evening!
We worked hard on coloring today. We made some projects for our open house as well (September 11th at 5). Next week, we will begin our reading and writing activities such as drawing straight and curved lines. We will also be starting math and will be talking about colors, shapes, and position words. Have a great weekend!
We did a lot of stuff today all because this group does a great job of following directions. We were able to color and talk a little more about bus safety. At rest time, we watched a movie about Franklin going to school. We went to gym and read a story about too many frogs.
We had a great day! We had our morning meeting, talked about washing hands, and went to gym. We also discussed our classroom rules of respect, responsibility, and safety. If you have sent all forms in, thanks so much! You have until Friday to complete all the forms and send in the class fee. Talk to you tomorrow!
