Great Day!

The kids had a great day of hard working! We practiced letter 'Ff' and
sorting by color or shape. We also visited the gym and library. Your
child will bring home their first book today. They can bring their book
back any day of the week. I can store them here until library day. The
children completed their reading and math testing today. They need to
say letters of the alphabet and numbers for one minute. I will send
their scores home with their report cards. The first testing period is
just a place to start. Many children have their scores jump dramatically
in the first month or two. If you would like to discuss your child's
scores now, just give me a call or send an email. Have a great day!

Applesauce!

Today we cut up our apples and I can smell the applesauce cooking right
now:) We will enjoy this during snack time today. We also read our first
take home book entitled "The Park". We practiced reading the word 'the'.
Please ask your child to read the book tonight as there homework for the
weekend. Reader pals came and visited with us and we also completed a
few more pages in our math book. The kids needed to color a certain item
on each page (i.e.. find the clown that is on the right). Have a
wonderful weekend and I will post again on Monday!

Yummy Apples!

Today we had a full schedule. We started with pictures (every child
smiled this year!), and then worked on letter 'D'. I call lowercase 'd'
"Doggy Head D" because you start by making the circle first (the doggy's
head). Then we worked on telling our left from our right. We had an
apple tasting this afternoon. We described the look and taste of red,
yellow, and pink apples. We were unable to try green today. Tomorrow we
will be visiting our reader pals and making applesauce. Have a great
day!

Another beautiful day!

We worked on letter C today, practiced the terms 'above and below', and
worked on writing our names. We also visited the music room, read apple
stories, and visited the gym. Thanks for sending in class fees. I have
about half as of now. Have a great day!

Letter B is Bumpy:)

Today we reviewed letter 'A' and also discussed letter 'B'. To help with
recognition, I call uppercase B 'bumpy B' and lowercase b 'bat and ball
b'. This sometimes helps someone who cannot retain the name of the
letter. We also discussed sorting. We visited the library, gym, and
computer lab today. Tomorrow we will celebrate our first classroom
birthday and have music. Have a great day!

Another Great Day!

What a wonderful day! The kids worked hard learning the sound of letter
'A' as well as how to write both the upper and lowercase version. We
also started our math books today and practiced organizing items on the
top, middle, or bottom. We visited both gym and music and we started our
new unit on apples. We will be describing the look and taste as well as
discussing the harvest of apples. On Friday, we will be making
applesauce. Have a great day!

What a great group of kids! They worked very hard today on coloring and

with the story. Please check for them in your child's folder. We also
visited the computer lab and the gym. Have a wonderful day!

Today we practiced letters, colors, and nouns. The children will not
necessarily be able to use the word noun correctly, however they will be
able to separate person, place, animals, and objects. We also visited
the music room and the gym. We had our first lock down practice today.
They kids did a great job of hiding from Mr. Cawcutt! Have a great day!

It's a Warm One!

We worked hard in our room, despite the hot and humid conditions! Today,
we practiced writing the alphabet, counting, and coloring. We visited
the gym and the library today (we did not check out books). We enjoyed a
great snack of bananas and cupcakes (they may crash from the sugar by
the time they get home) :) Have a wonderful evening!

A New Week!

Today we worked on singing our alphabet (we learned a new song to go
with this), using position words (such as forward, backward, and in
between), visited the gym and music room, and also had a special
presentation about our PTA fundraiser. Packets were sent home today, let
me know if you have questions. Have a great day!

Have a Great Weekend!

I hope everyone had a wonderful week! We worked hard on coloring and
writing our names today. We will continue this for a few weeks. We also
had our first fire drill and visited both the gym and music room. All of
the children did a fabulous job of adjusting to our school routine. I am
very proud of them all. Thanks for all the contacts and information from
home. Have a wonderful weekend!

Another Great Day!

The kids did a wonderful job of using our routine today. They know where
to go and when as well as our Above the Line Rules. Today we talked
about bus and playground safety, using our manners, and how to properly
wash our hands. We visited the computer lab and the gym. Another great

What a Great First Day!

This is such a wonderful group of children! Today we worked on several
things, such as coloring and walking in the halls. We also talked about
being above the line (see your handbook for a description). We also
visited the music room and had a presentation by Mr. Cawcutt in the gym.
The children were all very good listeners and everyone participated so I
was very happy! Have a great evening!
