Monday, Monday

Today, the children worked on sounding out words by playing a reading
game. They will be sent home with the children today. In math, we
continued subtracting (which the children are very good at), and we read
a story about Humphrey the whale. This afternoon, we will do some
journaling and start our insect unit. The kids will also visit the gym
and library. Have a great day!

The children worked on sounding out words and subtracting today. We also
discussed animals that live in the ocean and completed centers. This
afternoon, the children will be visiting the gym, music room, and
computer lab. We will also have an open journal session so the children
can continue practicing their ability to write a complete sentence. Have
a great day!

Raindrops keep falling on my head!

The children worked hard at sounding out words today that all had
"tricks" within. Words such as bear and moose were quite confusing at
times! We practiced subtracting and journaling as well. This afternoon,
the children will visit the gym, music room, and computer lab. The
children will be bringing home their Zinnia plants today, so watch for a
red cup with a seedling! Have a good day:)

The children worked hard today and we were able to get a lot done. We
sounded out words with both long and short vowel sounds, practiced
subtracting numbers to ten, completed centers, and read a story about
frogs with excellent pictures. This afternoon, the children will go
outside for gym, visit the music room, and create a class book about the
grown-ups who take care of them. Thanks for sending in tin cans, we were
able to get enough. Have a wonderful day!

Welcome back Monday

The children tried very hard to harness their energy this morning and we
were able to finish our reading and math for the morning. We practiced a
few of the reading tricks we learn in kindergarten (ee, ou, wh, and gh).
The new subtraction unit in math had us subtracting with pictures today.
We also discussed some pronouns (he, she, it, we, they) and completed
some new centers. Barnum's PTA generously supplied us with three new MP3
players so the children had a nicer way to listen to stories in the
reading center. A big thanks goes to our wonderful PTA! This afternoon,
the children will work in their memory books (you will receive these on
the last day of school), discuss how thankful we are for the grownups
who take care of us (Mother's Day), and visit the library and gym. Have
a wonderful day!
