Drive Safely:)

The children came in ready for recess today! So, we did some fun
letter/word activities that would exercise the brain as well as keep
them involved and interested. After gym and music, we will be practicing
some quick words with a game called Word Lightning. This afternoon, we
will be switching groups for math and completing another journal entry.
I am very impressed with the kids' ability to copy a sentence with
spaces between words and lowercase letters. Have a great day!

Back to school...

I was so happy to see the kiddos this morning. They were smiling and
ready to go. We discussed our long breaks and what everyone did for five
days. I introduced the new centers and we had the chance to play a
sounds game before gym and music. This afternoon, we will be journaling
(practicing spaces in between our words and lowercase letters) and
switching into our math groups. The kids will either be in my room or in
Mrs. Jordan's room. All children will have the chance to visit different
classrooms throughout the year because it is just more fun that way!
Have a great day:)

Shaving Cream Words:)

The kiddos came in with a lot of energy this morning, so we broke out
the shaving cream and practiced our quick words. I was very impressed
with the neatness of their lowercase letters when writing words this
morning! We read a story about a hibernating bear that wants to stay up
for the holidays before heading to gym and music. We will be having an
additional storytime this morning as well as completing a few more
reading assessments. This afternoon, we will be creating a classbook
about being thankful and completing our scarecrow number books. I have
attached a picture of the boys cleaning up after our shaving cream fun
this morning. Have a great Thanksgiving break!

Brrrrrr!!!!!

The kids have a good handle on rhyming so we finished our rhyming
activities for awhile. We will be visiting the gym, music room, and
computer lab today. We will also practice a turkey poem and create
handprint turkeys as well. Please look for a reading/math group note
that will be sent home today explaining how we will be splitting kids
into groups soon. We hope it will help all children receive instruction
that will meet their needs. Have a great day!

Terrific Tuesday

The children worked on rhyming and counting the letters in a word this
morning. This is a very quick group of children and they breezed through
the activities. We are starting to sound out words and I am excited to
see how the children do! The kids are currently in gym and music. We
will then visit the book fair and complete centers. This afternoon, we
will be making handprint turkeys and practicing number lines in math.
Have a great day!

Back to school...

The kids came in very excited about the snow and well prepared for a
chilly recess. Thanks for sending in proper winter gear today. This
morning, we practiced our rhyming skills and discussed how rhyming words
often have the same ending letters in the words themselves. The kids are
currently in gym and music. This afternoon, we will be discussing how
our country was one hundred years ago and how technology has changed
many things. We will also practice counting on a number line. Have a
great day!

Pepfest!

I am Back!

The kids did a good job for the sub yesterday, and a great job
controlling their excitement for the pepfest this afternoon, so...I am
very proud of them! We read our new take-home book this morning (This
Is) and they are now in gym and library. We will attend computer lab
this morning and complete centers. This afternoon, we will have our
normal routine, except that everything will be a bit shorter to be sure
we have time for the pepfest. We will all bus up there and cheer for the
BHS Football team. Students will be dismissed from the highschool. If
you pick your child up at the end of the day, please note that we will
be back a little later than normal. If your child is going to Bomber
Club/the Dance today, the bus will bring them back here. Have a great
weekend!

Thursday, November 11, 2010

The kids are with a substitute teacher today. They will be working on rhyming, journaling, and numbers. They will also visit the gym and music room. I will be back tomorrow. Please remind your child to wear Bomber colors tomorrow for the pepfest in the afternoon. Also, if you pick your child up from school, remember the kids will run a little late tomorrow due to the pepfest. Have a great day!

The kids were able to attend an awards ceremony this morning. Children can earn Above the Line award

The kids were able to attend an awards ceremony this morning. Children
can earn Above the Line awards for acts of kindness or responsibility
that go above and beyond what they need to do at school. We were able to
see some of the children get awards in other grades, and now the
kindergarten children can also earn awards. We also practiced letters,
numbers, and completed centers. We visited the gym, music room, and
computer lab this morning. I have also attached a picture of the
children at the awards ceremony. Have a great day!

A Name has been Chosen!

Well, after a long list of ideas, the children chose two names for our
classroom frog. We combined them to create "Kindergarten Frog Cutie" as
our pet name. I can't help but call our frog KFrog, because it is just
too cool of a name to pass up!
We also practiced our letters today and visited the gym and music room.
This afternoon, we will be discussing the concept of weight (using a
balance and the terms heavier, lighter) and start a new chapter in math
on numbers. Have a great day!

Our Frog Picture

I am doing a test email to see if pictures will post of my blog though
email. We will be naming our little guy later today!

Happy Friday!

The kids came in and read their new take home book "A Farm". They are
really picking up on the quick words and it is so much fun to hear them
read. They are currently in gym and library. We will then attend
computer lab and make some fun scarecrows. This afternoon, the kids will
be completing a math unit about numbers and visiting our reader pals.
Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the last bit of sunny weather (for
awhile anyway).

Smarty Pants Kids!

Testing for first quarter is complete and I am VERY impressed with the
progress the kids have made. Their hard work is paying off:) Today, the
kids practiced writing letters and visited the gym, music room, and
computer lab. This afternoon, we will be practicing our numbers as well
as our quick words. We will be changing table spots this afternoon and
hopefully the kids will enjoy sitting next to some different children. I
will be gone tomorrow but I am sure the children will carry their good
behavior to their teacher. Have a great day!

We came in this morning bright and cheery eyed...That is always a good
thing! The kids worked on letter writing this morning as well as some
journaling. The kids are in gym and music now. This afternoon, we will
be completing some reading testing (namely letter writing) and we will
practice some number writing as well. You should all feel good about
your child's progress-they are doing a great job! Have a good day:)

Brrrr!

The kids came in with a lot of energy this morning so we tried a few
dance/rhyming activities to get us ready for the day! They did a good
job with the letter Uu and are now at the gym/music room. We will be
reading a big book story about shadows this morning as well as
completing centers. I will also be testing the children on their letter
and sound recognition this morning. This afternoon, we will be
discussing the meaning of harvest as well as practicing our numbers.
Have a great day!
